Kemerovo Region

Kuzbass, as the Kemerovo Region is often called, is the coal capital of Russia and the center of ski tourism. Fans of breezy rides start the ski season at the Sheregesh ski resort (the main resort of the region) already in November. The highest point is Mount Mustang that stands at a height of 1,570 meters. All peaks are readily accessible through regular ski lifts or snowmobiles. In summer, tourists make trips to Kuznetsk Alatau Natural Reserve to see maral deer.

By the way, every year, on November 16, Kemerovo Region celebrates Yeti Day with flash mobs dedicated to the mythical creature. Tourists can go on an excursion to the “home of the Yeti” in the Azas cave. The entry ticket, sadly, doesn’t guarantee you’ll see a yeti, though.
