Kostroma Region

If you want to pay Snow Maiden (‘Snegurochka’) a visit, come to Kostroma Region. Several buildings in Kostroma are dedicated to the granddaughter of Father Frost (‘Ded Moroz’, the Russian Santa Claus) – a wooden Terem with ice sculptures, the ‘Metelitsa’ restaurant with year-round New Year’s decorations and her permanent residence, where she lives with her assistants.

At her residence, Snegurochka answers letters from kids from all over Russia and also organizes excursions, master classes and children’s parties.

Also, Kostroma Region boasts the largest elk farm in Russia – Sumarokovskaya farm. People all across Russia come to see elk and feed them and to take some delicious elk milk back home.
